The Medium Urban Search and Rescue ESP Team (MUSAR) is a unit at the disposal of the European Civil Protection Mechanism for search and rescue in the event of an earthquake or collapsed structure area.

The ESP MUSAR Team is designed to perform search and rescue operations in urban areas or any other collapsed structure in disaster scenarios. It will also be able to perform extraction procedures to liberate trapped persons. The main tasks of the team to be performed during a mission will be the following:

- Perform urban search and rescue operations in collapsed structures.

- Liaise with local emergency units and international agencies.

- Conducting local and regional risk analysis and assessments.

To achieve these goals, this team comprise five central capacities:

-          Administration. To carry out own activities and other USAR teams.

-          Canine and technical search

-          Rescue

-          Medical

-          Logistics
