In 2019, the Emergency Military Unit passed the certification process of the Ground Module for Fighting Forest Fires (GFFF) of the European Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).

This process began with the participation in the ModTTX exercise, developed in Split (Croatia) in October 2018, in which the planning phase corresponding to the certification was carried out.

Subsequently, on the Croatian island of Crees, the team from the Military Emergency Unit of the Second Intervention Battalion (BIEM II), participated in the CressModex2019 exercise together with civil and military institutions belonging to other European countries, which, in addition to forest fire fighting practices, joint sanitary evacuation exercises were carried out.
